Sharing your press kit with journalists

Make your materials easy to find without making your pitch harder to read.

GamePressKit editorial · Updated 6 October 2026

Give the link a reason to be opened

The press kit supports your message; it is not the entire pitch. Explain the announcement and why it could be relevant to the recipient’s work. A new demo, release date or substantial update is more specific than asking someone to cover your game without context.

Keep the message focused

Use a short description of the game, the concrete news and a clearly labeled press kit link. Avoid large unsolicited attachments. Put key availability and timing information in the message itself so the recipient can decide whether to explore further.

Make the destination straightforward

The link should open the intended game, with screenshots, facts and downloads easy to find. Test it in a signed-out browser and on mobile. If you use access restrictions, explain the necessary steps in your message rather than letting the recipient discover an unexplained password prompt.

Be precise about embargoes and permissions

Communicate embargo timing, time zone and any usage restrictions explicitly. A password alone does not establish an agreement with a recipient. Keep review-key requests and confidential details separate from the public kit, and make sure the right person is available for follow-up.

Maintain the kit after sending

Correct broken links and outdated facts promptly. Keep a stable press kit URL so people returning later find the current materials. Tailor any follow-up to the recipient and the announcement; a well-organized page can reduce friction, but coverage remains an editorial decision.
