What Is Rodent Company?

It's an action roguelite where you are a rodent hero burdened with a fateful mission. Gather randomly generated guns, get your friends together for up to 4-player couch co-op, and embark on a journey to conquer the treasury of limitless resources for your people!

Gameplay

• After selecting your playable character you start in a safe room with a random infinite-ammo gun.

• Explore the labyrinth of the current level by travelling to the adjacent rooms and facing their contents.

• Get new weapons from chests and loot them from some of your enemies to expand your arsenal.

• Find and pick up perks that will give you stat-ups and powerful effects.

• Progress to the next stage by defeating the boss of your current level.

• On restarting the run after winning or losing, your current run's progress is lost and you begin to progress from scratch, except you'll be able to find new items or encounter new enemies that you've unlocked during your previous sessions.

The Story

For many years rodents have lived relatively peacefully and without much need to leave their homeland. But once their storages became too meagre to survive the upcoming winter, a company of heroic rodents had to embark on a dangerous journey to the foretold source of resources. Chaotic and dangerous lands lie ahead of them, but as the stakes are too high to turn back, our heroes have to battle through any obstacle that comes their way and claim the treasures they seek.

Early Access

The game is launching in Early Access on November 30th, 2026 on itch.io. It will feature the first 3 levels of the game and the basic set of weapons, perks, modules and playable characters. We will carefully listen to the feedback of our players and adjust the direction of the game's development. As we expand Rodent Company's content, it will gradually evolve into the "release" version which we'll launch on Steam.

Mobile Version

An experimental mobile build of the game is going to be included in the itch.io package. It's essentially a "touchless" desktop version of the game compiled for Android. We are releasing it to allow Android handheld gamers to experience Rodent Company without needing additional tools. It can also be of interest for gamers that experience games on their smartphones/tablets using controllers or mice and keyboards.

We've also built a spreadsheet with device compatibility data for our players to check whether their devices have already been tested and verified. We will manually accept and filter submissions with device compatibility information to ensure the table remains trustworthy.

As for a dedicated mobile port with adapted UI and touch controls - we are not planning to ever do it.
